John Fahey | Inara George | Josh Ritter

Like I promised, this post will be a lot more appealing to your ears than the previous one. Touching first on the topic of the guitar legend John Fahey's tribute album. Those not familiar with Fahey should really check him out, they don't call him a legend without a good reason. The track listing for his tribute album would make any fan of good music excited. With such a vast array of artists, both creatively and musically, each one of Fahey's songs could turn out to be gems. According to a few sources, the album has been fully recorded with the exception of 2-3 tracks and is slated for release in Feb. 2006. Here are a few of the finished tracks.

Devendra Banhart - Sligo River
Peter Case - When The Catfish is in Bloom
Sufjan Stevens -Variation on 'Commemorative Transfiguration & Communion at Magruder Park

Inara George has steadily been making a name for herself in the music scene. The female vocalist may remind many of Cat Power, vocally but her style of singing and writing are dynamically different. She has recently been featured on many "underground" radio shows and also a few TV show soundtracks.

Inara George - Fools In Love
Inara George - Genius

Unrelated to John Ritter (R.I.P.), Josh Ritter first graced my audible senses this past May. Soon thereafter I had the luck to catch him performing at Bonnaroo, and boy did he perform. I have seen a many shows and I think this guy had more energy on stage than an 9 year-old with A.D.D. drinking a 2-liter of Red Bull. On top of his energy his voice and musical abilities were extremely raw and ridiculously good. Critics love this kid and are comparing him to Bob Dylan...a lot of hype but he is worth the listen.

Josh Ritter - Snow Is Gone
Josh Ritter - Kathleen
Josh Ritter - Man Burning
