The Whitest Boy Alive

Who else but Germans, eh? (edit: yes, Erlend is Norwegian, but the band is based in Germany) Spacey 80's throwback synth rockers The Whitest Boy Alive used to be an electronica band back as early as 2003, but since then they've developed into a full out band...but they're not afraid to show their colors/roots in instrumentation and electro-funk. You probably already know the band's singer, Erlend Øye, who fronts Kings of Convenience, and who also lended his voice to a song on the new James Figurine album (which is meh --> so/so IMO).

TWBA's album Dreams might be a little post-punk in its nature (says Stereogum), but that won't deter club goers and DJs from respectively dancing to and spinning this shit...the baselines are whomping enough to make even the shyest tag-along loosen up and start moving her hips. Don't pass this album up, however, if that doesn't sound like your thing. There's plenty there for the serious music listener, including the song "Don't Give Up" which sounds like something an eighties Death Cab would make up on the spot if they were playing their last song of the night at your 1986 prom.

Edit: Songs removed at label's request

Dreams hits U.S. stores soon, but you can actually buy it now here. Also, you can pretty much listen to the whole thing [streaming] here (it pauses every 30 seconds, but just hit play again and you'll continue the next 30 sec's, etc).
