This band must be on the verge of breaking into the big leagues. After a random tip to check out their MySpace, I must say that I am hooked. The Envy Corps are a small group from a small city in Iowa, but pack a big sound. Their debut EP hit shelves in April and has been circulating around their state slowly creeping into the ears of listeners nationwide. They have all the elements to make you want to listen: hand claps, shouty backing vocals, catchy guitar riffs, and a pair of lyrics/melodies that go together like bloggers and leaked albums. Check out these two tracks from their EP and see if they aren't remarkable pieces of ear candy.

[MP3] The Envy Corps - Sylvia [the Beekeeper]
There are five more songs from their EP. Check it out here. You can head to their MySpace for some more tunes as well as tour dates.
Indie Don't Dance loves these guys! While it's not hard to see why, she just updated the masses with some news regarding The Envy Corps and their full-length record. Apparently they're recording in Russia? For more details (including a tracklisting!) check out the post.

i'm glad to see these guys are getting some attention.
i first saw these guys when i went on tour in the summer of 2004 with a band called a jealousy issue. we stopped in iowa for a show and were tight on money so we set up a show with these guys and played in someone's basement. they blew me away.
technically they already have a full length out titled "Soviet Reunion" which came out 2 or so years ago.
Thanks!
