TGIF @ IGIF

We haven't done this in a reaaallly long time, so in the spirit of nostalgia, gearing up for a crazy weekend, and affordable middle-class restaurant franchises, here's yet another TGIF @ IGIF. If you aren't sure what that is, it's sort of a "best of the week" thing where we each choose two songs and agree on another for what we think the week's best songs are. Shazaam.

Beirut - Postcards From Italy
Song Of The Week
After posting about Beirut's latest EP, it was hard not to go back and revisit Condon's beautiful debut. One of many great tracks from the album, this song just strikes a chord with us like no other...and will most likely make the list for the year's best songs.

Annuals - Complete Or Completing
Connor's 1st Pick
Here's the thing about Annuals. I know it's hard to take buzz seriously, but when the everyone is shouting in unison "Buy this album," I'd do it. This will probably end up being in the top 5 songs of the year for me, it's sensational... if you've been waiting for an album to assault your senses and fall in love with, this is the one.

Tracy Bonham - Dumbo Sun
Nathaniel's 1st Pick
After being awed by her solo act this past Tuesday, I've since been listening to as much Bonham as I can get my hands on. While I liked the acoustic version I heard at her show better, this song has some catchy lyrics and a great melody. Who knew she was nominated for a Grammy in 1996? I need to catch up on my reading, apparently.

Madvillain - Take It Back
Connor's 2nd Pick
This is the b-side to Madvillain's newest single "Monkey Suite," and in all honestly it's entirely a better song than the a-side. Yet again Madlib provides one of the sickest beats of the year and Doom lays the vocals, one part corny and one part badass. Can't wait for their next album.

Third Eye Blind - Slow Motion
Nathaniel's 2nd Pick
I'm still under the belief that Third Eye Blind is one of the better bands of my entire generation. They've yet to put out a release I don't like and after hearing news that Jenkins is back in the studio, I had to unearth this beautiful gem.

I agree with your sentiments about Third Eye. They tend to be a whipping boy for an awful lot of music snobs though. I love em'.

third eye blind is so good. people are really missing out on them by dismissing them as a 90's fling.

You didn't post Take it Back, you posted Monkey Suite.

Totally on about Third Eye Blind! I think S/T is one of the best albums of the late 90's. And Blue was equally as good.

Nice post - but the Madvillain song posted IS monkey suite

Take it back isn't a Madvillain song, it's a Madlib song. Doom isn't on it at all. Also, it's produced by J Dilla and not Madlib. Madlib only provides vocals.

Actually, this version IS a Madvillain song, it's clearly him singing.

But the song posted is still Monkey Suite? I think we're both confused as to what's going on :P

Motorcycle Drive By may be my favorite song to try to play on guitar.
