The Beatles have not been a band since 1970. For those wondering how a band that has been dissolved for 36 years still manages to release new songs, I ask that you look no further than Sir George Martin and a crazy circus performance called Cirque du Soleil. If you're not familiar with Cirque du Soleil by now, specifically their new Beatle's themed show "LOVE", now would be a great time to familiarize yourself with their show. Not for the sake of the insane feats and stunts they do during their performance, but for the sake of the music they use.
The show showcases some of the more popular songs found within The Beatles' catalogue, using 26 songs throughout the entire production. In theory the songs aren't new, by any means, but they've all been reword by Sir George and son Giles to showcase a new sound. Apple Corps. states that, "In creating the music for the show and for the album, George and Giles have created a continuous "soundscape"--a series of well-known Beatles songs augmented by additional instrumentation and vocals taken from their vast bank of original multi-track tapes." Sit back and try to imagine "Strawberry Fields Forever" starting out with Lennon's original demo before escalating into an early take of the song and then climaxing in a Martin-fied musical potpourri including the piano solo from "In My Life" and the harpsichord pattern from "Piggies" amongst others. If you thought that Sir George was becoming feeble in his old age, think again my friends.

LOVE is slated for release this Tuesday (Nov. 21) - Buy the album! It's guaranteed to be the best (new) Beatles' music you've heard in the past 25 years.

Good stuff. Exclamation points are cool and so is the music.
There are four songs available for streaming off www.beatles.com, which I listened to about two weeks ago. I'm extremely excited.
Let's not forget that next week will bring the Beatles, but it is the rumored release date for the yet-unconfirmed, 14-years-in-the-making, Chinese Democracy album by Guns N' Roses.

Awesome!!!!! When are they gonna let Geroge remaster the Beatles entire catalogue?!?!?!?!?! These songs sound amazing - so clear!!!!!!!
And! one! can! never! use! enough! exc!amation! points! when! speaking! of! the! Beatles!!!!!!!!
!!!! !!!!
I like how we both quoted the same bit about Strawberry Fields. I felt kind of weird using the word "climaxed" because I wouldn't talk like that in ordinary life (well, not about a Beatles CD anyways. Or maybe not ever, actually) -
Sorry to throw a wet blanket on these, but... Yawn. This is a mildly interesting mash-up of some different bits of songs. The opening to Strawberry Fields is familiar, probably from those Beatles Anthology double-disc ripoffs the Beatles put out a decade ago.
Why does McCartney's voice on Madonna sound so distorted?
The Beatles were great, but these new mixes are but a momentary diversion. You can't ruin great songs. The original mixes will last for the ages. These will be forgotten. I bet the Cirque du Soleil visuals are interesting tho'.
Sell your old Beatles CDs now -- mastered in the early days of digital audio and now outdated, save the money for the remastered CDs that will surely come in the relatively near future. That's my advice.
The Beatles are not even in my top 10 of sixties UK Bands. These "new songs" are not gonna help. Yikes!!!!!
Exclamation points and the Beatles have something in common. They have become annoying.
wowwwww. i'm really shocked at all of these dissenters, here. why do only they post? where are all the majority diehards? i'm one, but i'm a blogger too, so i'll just color a little pin for myself and stick it on my shirt. "beatles diehard. live on Paul and Ringo."
i like the first anonymous, "your an excitable hipster." that person was so excited about their own clever little quip there that he/she entirely forgot about grammar.
Vitaminkid-
I agree with your comment that the new mixes are but a diversion, but is that really a problem? I don't think anyone really expects a remix album (which is really what this is) to have any lasting appeal, but they're still fun.
Hard to believe that people are dissing this collection. Your loss... I'd rather listen to remixes of old Beatle music than most of the indie stuff that gets hyped today.
i think the mixes are brilliant, really very well done and the song-to-song transitions are spectacular, particularly on track 13 (Strawberry Fields Forever) through track 16 (Octopus's Garden).
"momentary diversions" maybe but definitely a great addition to my collection
