The Shins: "Phantom Limb" (New Video!)

I was getting ready to hit the hay the early tonight when I saw that Sub Pop just posted a new video to the latest Shins single "Phantom Limb". The track is easily one of my favorites from their upcoming album Wincing The Night Away and the video is packed full of that quirky enjoyment that The Shins often create. It's only been up for an hour or so now and the YouTubers, save for The Shins fans, aren't taking kindly to the latest video. Man, YouTube commentators can be vicious! Check it out:

Since we're talking about tubes.. Last week was the season finale of (one of) the greatest televisions shows currently airing: Nip/Tuck. I've made my affection for the show, and the great music that comes with it, pretty well known - so it should come as no surprise that the finale featured a familiar band: The Submarines. If you've been around for awhile then you probably recall a nice post about the duo on some idle Tuesday in April. If not, then check it out and then prepare to catch an entire Submarines song in Nip/Tuck. "Brighter Discontent" was used towards the end of the finale much in the style of Magnolia using Aimee Mann. I'll be the first to admit it was somewhat cheesy and rip-offish but it doesn't take away from the great music!

Buy Declare A New State - it's full of nothing but great songs.

LOVE the Submarines. And, hey, they have a remix album and an iTunes live EP that both come out this fall, which are both incredible, and with both feature alternate versions of "Peace & Hate," which, really, yes is one of the loveliest songs I've ever heard.

Nathaniel, I abhor the newest Shins video. Children? Re-enacting the crusades? What the hell is that? Bad idea, I tell you. Although I am partial to the new Filter Mag cover I just received where my TV boyfriend John Krasinski interviews the Shins and is photographed with them.

I thought that was corny as hell in Magnolia, and it's just as bad as Nip/Tuck. How can people think this is a good idea?
