The Shaky Hands

Props to Said The Gramophone for getting me hooked on Portland, Oregon's The Shaky Hands, a semi-barebones alt-indie-folkcountry-twang band with more charm than Michel Gondry's hands can manufacture*. The band just signed with über-small label Holocene Music and plans on releasing their self-titled full-length debut sometime in early-mid 2007. Here's a song to fall in love with:

[MP3] The Shaky Hands - Summer's Life

...and you don't need much more. A simple continuous beat, handclapping the offbeat, cute vocals about love and getting over "hard times" and learning lessons and whatnot. And on top of that, the singer's got a voice that's one part Conor Oberst (L.L. Conor O.), one part Tapes 'n Tapes singer Josh Grier (listen for it and you'll hear it). This here's enjoyable, fun music and not much more, but hopefully it'll get you guys through another freaking Monday. Here's another track:
[MP3] The Shaky Hands - Another World

* - I just saw The Science Of Sleep last night... pretty trippy and confusing, bordering on convoluted, but enjoyable I guess...though the ending was pretty abrupt. Still, it ain't no Eternal Sunshine... that movie is every indie kid's wet dream.

I stayed for the first two acts, Tokyo Police Club and Deerfhoof. David Cross was funny, and I think that was the only good thing about what I saw of the show. it was only ten dollars, so I'm not disappointed.

Even the wife perked up when I played this lot: 'Who are these ones? I like.'

That really takes some doing!

Digging the Shaky Hands LP, it's really great. They would be loved over here in the UK.
