Boy has it been a long time since I've written about my favorite quirky folk/pop quartet Grizzly Bear. They're about to embark on a sold-out tour with Starbucks' pop angel Feist, they're proverbially busy in the studio working on new shit...and in the meantime, an alternate version of their stunning song "Easier" (the b-side to the Knife 7") was released on that Believer compilation we wrote about a few days ago. I already posted the Zach Condon track from that disc and thanks to GB front-man Ed Droste I've been given the 'go-ahead' to host an MP3 of their contribution for you fine IGIF readers (here's the album version as well as the alternate, for comparative purposes):

So it's not as gorgeous as "Easier," the opening track to Yellow House (our second favorite album of 2006!), but on the plus side it's an almost complete re-do of the album version... and since it's coming from Grizzly Bear, who can complain? Here, instead of the grandiose woodwinds and multi-layered vocals, we're given a fairly stripped down version of the song but one that still comes across beautifully.

Awesome collection. I actually happen to like the alternate version of Easier better.
i like the alternate version better too, but both are rad. Amazing abundant amount of Mp3s to grab. Generous blog, generous band. I like.
As much as I love Grizzly Bear and Girl Talk, I still don't think I like the "Knife" remix, mainly cause the Clipse just doesn't do it for me.
