New Vampire Weekend Songs on Daytrotter

Vampire Weekend stopped by Daytrotter the other day to record a few songs including two previously unreleased songs: "M 79" and "I Stand Corrected." You can grab both of those songs as well as a couple others here »

[MP3] Vampire Weekend - M 79 (Daytrotter Session) *

"M 79" is one of Vampire Weekend's newest songs, so it may be safe to presume it was recorded well after the band became blog superstars. It sounds as if it fits perfectly with the three tracks released on their self-titled EP, but I wonder if Vampire Weekend will really live up to their hype in the long run. Their songs are fantastic, inventive, and certainly new sounding, but they're also working a sound that has a good chance of going stale after they release their debut. In the meantime, I'll sit back and continue to thrive on the promise of a new band doing something fun and unique, but it's still something to keep in mind.

* - apparently the album version will sound much different, but you get the idea.

Also, Vampire Weekend's newest single "Mansard Roof" plus b-side "Ladies Of Cambridge" (formerly "Boston") is now available for digital download at iTunes and Insound.
