I know I've said this about a few of our contests in the past, but I don't think anything can top what we've got to giveaway this time on behalf of the extraordinarily talented multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriter Hanne Hukkelberg.
We first mentioned Hanne back in August 2006 when we were wowed by a song called "Cast Anchor" from her album Little Things, a song that I still haven't been able to stop playing. More recently, Hanne was busy producing and recording a follow-up, last year's Rykestrasse 68, which was met with considerable acclaim from the likes of The Sun UK, Pitchfork, The Guardian, and Fader Magazine (among many others).
THE CONTEST:
The contest is a bit unusual compared to the others we've done, because this time it'll take a little bit of investigative skill on your parts. If you click "Read More" below you'll be greeted by 15 Hanne-related trivia questions. Most of the answers to these can be found looking at her website, myspace, biography, etc, but some require a more fine-tuned understanding of the lovely songstress's musical life.
As the contest goes on, I will update this post with clues to some of the answers, so keep an eye out for those.
Try to answer as many as you can, and email your replies to hannecontest@nettwerk.com. The person with the most correct answers wins the prize package (outlined below). If there are multiple perfect scores (or multiple best scores) a winner will be chosen from the winning pool at random.
THE PRIZES:
The winner will receive:
- iPod Touch
- Autographed copies of both Little Things and Rykestrasse 68
- An autographed instrument (!) used by Hanne during the recording of Rykestrasse 68
I don't need to say how fucking primo this giveaway is. Even my eyes widened and jaw dropped when the details were outlined to us. That being said, click "Read More" for the trivia questions. As always, good luck and happy contesting!

For the anagram, is it supposed to be "Hanna" with an "a", like you have written down, or "Hanne" with an "e", like her name?
Amazing contest
sorry, hanne with an e. thanks for pointing that out
Can people overseas enter the comp?
may i add punctuation to the anagram?
1)yeah I second the last comment--- is punctuation allowed?
(and please say yes this is brutally hard)
2) grat contest, but it makes me nervous. couldn't she autograph a kitchen knife or something and send it over? it's quite a list of bizarre instruments.
anyways, great job guys and please just clarify that one point.
yes, punctuation is allowed.
as for the instrument.... i realize there are a ton of various random objects she used to record her album, but I honestly don't know which 'instrument' is being given away... so your guess is as good as mine i suppose
Does the second question include the various non-instruments (knives etc) played on the record, or is it limited to more traditional instruments?
i agree. the # of instruments question is hard to interpret...any specifics would be greatly appreciated
the number of instruments, both real instruments and common objects, is listed in a two-digit numerical form on one of the following sources: hanne's bio, hanne's PR pages, hanne's official site, or hanne's myspace.
it's there if you look hard enough. you don't have to count them yourselves.
I'm not seeing a numerical number in any of those places. By PR pages, are you referring to the "press" section of her website?
haven't been able to find a numerical number either...did find what seems to be a complete list, but now wondering: are 'snaps and claps' two separate instruments or instruments at all? what about vocals, and choir? any more hints yet?
Yeah, I found that list as well. Do "vocal" and "choir" count as instruments?
I'm assuming "snaps and claps" are one... not sure though.
yeah, that's what i was assuming...
wondering about the jazz singer too...bjork? that's who i've seen the most comparison to anyway.
Where did you find a complete list of the instruments? I searched almost everywhere online and without success...=(
is it possible a clarification or some help about 10th question, please?
the anagram is killing me..this is an excellent challenge!!
excuse me, the winner of this contest will be written on this page?
Yeah, I would like to know the winner and the solution of the questions.
and the winner is...?!
