I debated remarking on the matter Wednesday but wasn't fully convinced to do so until witnessing the weather this morning. Two days ago, as many of you were aware, marked the passing of a year since the awful Virginia Tech shootings. Both Connor and myself, enrolled at separate universities, took the matter to heart.
The anniversary of the tragic event came coupled with a current tragedy overtaking my own Kentucky campus. A freshman student from Utah was recently killed in an unsolved hit and run accident. A member of the UK Equestrian Team and just 18-years-old , she died in the early morning only to have her older sister (in Atlanta) give birth to her first child hours later.
I'd never witnessed such a blatant and personal example of life replacing death - all eerily tied to the first weather endearing day of spring that occurred on Wednesday's Virginia Tech anniversary (and has continued through today). Perhaps this is all a mere coincidence or, hopefully, Mother Nature and karma combined forces for the better. I cannot imagine the weather retreating to winter this time around, it's time for rebirth.

What a sad, yet well-written observation. The tunes were a good choice too, but in the end you have to sometimes wonder what it's all about. The VT campus will someday recover, but those families, just like the family of your UK student, will never be the same. Thanks for the comments. -Jenny

Why the Hell is SRV's cover not on this list?!?
I can't get the second song to download. Any help?
I remember how awful that day was last year...and that was just a few weeks after I had gotten my college acceptances too...
thank you for this post.
OK, I give. Where did you find that picture? Looks sort of like Oxford or somewhere overseas (vs. over the rainbow). Curious minds want to know...
