Looking back into the past, it's been a full two years since I've written about the fine music of Rademacher. The two year gap definitely wasn't intentional, although it is rather ironic, and you can rest assured that this band has only grown and gotten better since then. That's a fair statement - their latest LP Stunts has spawned some favorable buzz over the past year with the oft praised song "If U Got Some Magic". Rightfully so, it's an absolutely sensational track with crafty lyricism and fantastic instrumentation but that's not the issue at hand.
I've listened to the entire Stunts album (from opening to closing track) about five or six times now, enough for me to decide that it's one of the better albums I've heard in recent memory. An emotional, fully-thought-out piece of work that meshes so well and is structured so soundly that each track contributes to the entire album while remaining unique enough to stand alone. This was not the same band I first heard some two years ago - no, this updated version of Rademacher had grown comfortable in their own sound and explorative creativity. After the direction the band has taken with Stunts, I am thoroughly convinced that this group is on the cusp of breaking into widespread popularity.
[MP3] Rademacher - Today Is Different
Upon listening to this track you'll immediately appreciate how well the vocal delivery, lyrics, and music all seamlessly combine to tug your attention span through the song's entirety. You may be inclined to compare their sound to The Features or Tapes 'n Tapes but I have a hard time finding a spot on comparison. I highly recommend purchasing Stunts or investigating further into the album, your ears will not be disappointed.
