Asthmatic Kitty Records, home to the elusive Sufjan Stevens and a selection of bands that likely represent his twinkly taste in indie pop and indie rock, just announced the signing of seven new artists-- good news for rich tweesters who now have seven more extra-small cute'n'ironic t-shirts to buy!
But the best news was the release of a free compilation EP of sorts called Works In Progress which showcases, literally, the works-in-progress of the seven new signees. After poking through the MP3s, I got a sort of haunting, "Life In A Glasshouse" vibe from these excellent demos from Brooklyn's own DM Stith »

DM Stith reminds me a whole lot of Patrick Watson. I like the dreamy outerspace vibe. I'm also happy to see Asthmatic expand it's lineup. I'm afraid though that record label success with just pull Sufjan further from creating music.
Be My Baby is very atmospheric. I like it again!
Good picks.
