Johnny Foreigner, a Birmingham based three piece with the feel and energy of three kids having fun playing loud music, have come skipping across the pond making ripples with every bounce. They've received a kind ego stroking from NME and Drowned In Sound for their album Waited Up 'Til It Was Light (released digitally yesterday; in stores Sept. 23rd) and have now fine tuned my ear to an energetic, punk rock sound that has the emotion of grunge on a Zoloft concoction. With energetic guitars, rhythmic drum beats, and coy lyricism sung by a male/female lead aside - this band sounds like they're having fun jumping around on stage with instruments more than anything else. It's an infectious thing too, if they're having so much fun with music then why shouldn't you?
