Chalk up another enjoyable independent rock band from the seemingly independent rock melting pot of Brooklyn. The Secret Life of Sofia have nothing too secretive about their sound, combining first-hand experience lyrics with a strong alternative/folk-experimental sound. Much like your favorite piece of chicken, this band has been around a little while with ample time to marinate their sound in the practice and growth of releasing EPs and playing live shows. Their latest album Seven Summits was just released a little over a month ago and offers up some seriously solid folk-meets-rock tunes in a style similar to Joseph Arthur. They've been collecting buzz from indie labels like a sofa collects changes, be sure to listen to "Outside" and check out another track on Said The Gramophone.

beautiful picture
just because a band is from brooklyn doesn't mean they have any talent. just because a band is indie doesn't mean they warrant a listen. and just because you guys have macbook pros that your moms and dads bought you and two fingers to type with doesn't mean you are in any way shape or form qualified to write anything about anything, but especially about music. why don't you guys go beg for an internship at SPIN or something?
...but what if it sounds cool and makes people feel good?
and what qualifies you, anon, to type your opinion any more than anyone else?
jeez, anon.
i love this site. good job, guys.
