[MP3] The Sway Machinery: "P'sach Lanu Sha'ar"

Right when I thought that Bell Orchestre was the only side/other project related to Arcade Fire associates, The Sway Machinery leaps to the forefront of "new bands to note" with their own version of a supergroup. Who, might you ask, is in this supergroup? Well if you know anything about the following bands each member represents, then you might scratch your head bald wondering what they could possibly sound like:

"Brian Chase, drummer for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Colin Stetson, touring saxophonist for the Arcade Fire, and Stuart Bogie and Jordan McLean, Antibalas' tenor saxophone and trumpet player, respectively, have joined Balkan Beat Box guitarist Jeremiah Lockwood for the Sway Machinery.."

The supergroup focuses mainly on Cantorial music and, much like Balkan Beat Box, are quite the sight to behold in person with intense rhythmic power and potent folklore working wonders onstage. After some fine live shows and secretly releasing some earlier recordings, Sway Machinery are prepping to release their debut Sept. 16th via JDub (e.g. Deleon). You're probably half-expecting to hear a different sound and if you're not.. well, prepare for a cross-cultural grooming of "Malian guitars, Saharan beats, Afro-pop horns and the B-L-U-E-S" in one cohesive sound-wave.
