Seven and Four Days Remain

As I sort through some of this bulging inbox in a quest to find the next great MP3, I come to my keyboard with that terrible school feeling. This past weekend and last couple of weekdays I have been assisting some friends move from Louisville back to Lexington.. for that fateful time is upon us where there is exactly seven days left until the university begins crawling with the infestation of students once again.

Oh no! It's the last week of freedom - where academic obligations, for the past three months, have been nothing more than alcoholic obligations and where I can comfortably watch the Olympics all day week knowing I don't have a paper due by the Closing Ceremonies. Oddly enough, though, I am not too terribly bitter knowing I have to enter the realm of academia once again. Indeed, for this school year marks my last undergraduate school year, my final lap, my last hurrah... well at least until I take another standardized test and go back for another round of graduate school. (Which has always made me wonder: why do we always get to the top of the academic totem pole, then have to take another test to start at the bottom?) Needless to say, I am excited (for a change) to begin this final school year and fall back into a rhythm of life that doesn't include odd work hours and the spontaneity that accompanies summer.

Getting back into a routine and rhythm of continuous posting should prove fun for all, although not so fun is the fact the Olympics come to a close in four days! You know that sliver of reality that you keep tucked away in the back of your mind during a vacation that screams, "It's going to be over eventually, you have to go back home!"? Just like your dreaded last vacation day at the beach, the final day (Aug. 24th) of the Olympics are quickly approaching and I can do nothing but be unhappy knowing I'll have to wait until a midsummer's 2012 night in London to see them once more. What are you going to do without the guiding light of the Olympics dictating which channels you watch? Even if you aren't as big a fan of the Olympics as others, I'm itching to know your opinion on the following question: Which Olympic sport do you feel requires the most athleticism?

I would say gymnastics, but this is only because I actually competed as a gymnast for quite some time. It is incredibly difficult and it takes a lot of practice. Also, it became too scary for me, so that made me quit.

Easy: it's a toss-up between marathon and triathalon. The former for the sheer endurance it requires of its competitors--and the fact that successfully completing a marathon equates to 10 days or so of complete exhaustion afterwards; the latter for, well...basically the same reasons.

definitely gymnastics for men and perhaps rowing or triathlon for women. altough I would say swimming for both sexes and rowing for men are also up there.
