Paul Mawhinney owns the largest collection of vinyl LPs and 45s in the world. Because of the digital music frenzy and the dwindling interest in physical music formats, Paul was forced to close his record shop. Now facing diabetes and rising health costs, he's put up his entire collection for sale.
If you've got $3 million and a place for 2.5 million records, keep an eye on this one:
Directed by Sean Dunne for Very Ape Productions.
Here's an MP3 (a little ironic in context, I know) for John Miles' "Music," Paul's "life song" playing at the end of the video:

That's really an amazing story. This is where somebody in the record indsutry or even a project Gutenberg type group should step in. All of that music really should be preserved.
I wish I had a few million :(
what's that first song?
amazing yes! I hope someone will take good care of it..
Does anyone know would that collection of pop records be more thorough than say Harry Smith's Anthology of American Folk Music?
i recently began collecting vinyls from my favorite era in rock in rock and roll (late 60s to early 70s). I was proud of my 100 or so records...until i saw this video. what an accomplishment
this story broke like six months ago you fucking turds
so let me get this straight, anon takes off for a week and then ,when he unfortunately returns, goes back to EVERY post he missed and vomits out some unwitty comment? sounds to me like he's got a hard on for you guys. better sleep with one eye open. bet he's from NYC. gotta be.
actually anon, the director sent it to me yesterday right after it premiered.
how about this. every time you make a blatantly false accusation, ie LIE, about this site or a post, I'm going to delete your comment. simple as that.
actually, I was referring to the story. Not the video.
As long as I own turntables I will never stop collecting vinyl. It shouldn’t be an investment for record collectors it should be more like fun, therapeutic and sentimental.
Long live vinyl………………………..
NPR had an article about this back in February. Really neat story.
