Providence/Brooklyn natives Deer Tick have a special new year's gift for us-- a cover of Paul Simon's "Still Crazy After All These Years" from his 1975 album of the same name. I'd be surprised if that was anyone's favorite Simon album (or tune), but he picked up a Grammy for it (and we all know how much that matters, right Ye?). Either way, while the cover provides no match for Simon's silky croon, it sure is nice to get a version without the dreaded smooth jazz outro.

On the DT front, the boys are steadily working on a follow-up to War Elephant (our 12th favorite album of '07), to be released sometime in late spring/early summer.

good cover, although it's hard to match simon's smooth vocals. notable effort, though.

DT's cover is o.k. I'm not sure if it beats out Paul Simon's original.. DT's vocals has a much more raw sound, which I generally like.. But, I mean, hey, the only cover that I thought may have been better than the original was Jeff Buckely's Halleujah...
