I don't have cable. And if I did, my television would never be set to VH1 because most of their "creative content" makes My Super Sweet Sixteen look like The Sopranos. But occasionally they put on this show called Storytellers where egomaniacal musicians not only get to perform a full set of music on a pimped out stage for millions of at-home viewers (talk about free promotion), but they get to do their favoritest thing in the whole wide world: talk about themselves! in front of a studio audience! who are told when to applause!
It seems only fitting, then, that Kanye West was the most recent musician chosen for the series. Cuz the dude is on top of the world. And the dude's got a lot to talk about... like spitting Radiohead hate and showing love for O.J. Simpson and Chris Brown. And why he's trying to popularize the "fade-mullet"... (a.k.a. "fullet").
Anyway.
"RoboCop" was the one song I was really looking forward to on 808's and Heartbreak after hearing a few early demos. Unfortunately when the official version was released, many realized that about 3 minutes in, Kanye begins to sing. Without Auto-Tune. And we realize that Joe the Plumber can probably sing better than Ye without the help. Thankfully for his Storytellers set, Kanye keeps the Auto-Tune on for that "spoiled little L.A. girl" verse, and actually gives us a surprising reason for its existence: Tenacious D. Here's the MP3:

So Kanye has his "Jack Black moment" and we get to listen to RoboCop the way it should be. And they all live happily ever after (with the exception of T-Pain, whose still pissed about the alleged creative theft).

You guys are idiots. You do know how to spell right? Because the last time I checked "Plumber" had a "b" in it, and Joe the Plumber stopped being relevant the day Obama won the election. T-Pain is actually credited as a producer on the album, so he's probably feeling pretty good about the money he's making from this "alleged creative theft". Check your facts, you sound like a couple of under-educated college morons.

i really don't like sinking to the level of the assholes who occasionally feel compelled to wipe their shit all over IGIF's comment section, but --
think of it this way. kanye's use of auto-tune has popularized (or will popularize) the effect much more than t-pain's. now consider all of the current and future auto-tune uses and then try to quantify how pissed t-pain will be. THAT is what I was getting at.
not that I think t-pain has any right in believing he owns or in any way holds intellectual property rights over auto-tune. he's just bitching cuz that's what egomaniacal rappers do.
and about the joe the plumber mention. that dude became more identified with your "average american" than perhaps any guy in history, which makes him inherently relevant even if he currently is not. saying "Joe the Plumber" was just easier and more concrete than saying "the average Joe."
and the plummer for plumber misspelling? i've written over 1,000 posts on this blog. there are going to be typos, and there are always going to be anonymous jerks like you who have to point them out for some b/s "holier than thou" self-justification of the day. feel good.
and if we're going tit for tat, punctuation is always included within quotation marks (it's "alleged creative theft.") and under-educated is actually "undereducated."
