[MP3] Winter Gloves - Let Me Drive
If Winter Gloves music is any indication, we all could have seen a video like this on the horizon. In what I'm sure was a painstakingly long and tedious effort, director Benjamin Weinstein crafted what appears to be thousands of flip book pages to bring the band to life without using, say, an actual video of the band playing. The video is entertaining in its form, although there's no narrative or real function. Without demeaning the work of the director and his crew (if any), I'm constantly wondering why the hell "indie" is so often associated with cutesy teenage minutia like pencil drawings and flipbooks.
This is exactly why I knew I was going to hate Juno just two minutes into the film.

can't help it: this is awesome. the part in the book was great, and the song itself has handclaps, so i'm toast. thumbs up! and who cares what anything is "associated" with? if you like it, like it, if you don't, then don't. anyway, keep up the good work!

i don't think i'd consider flipbooks "cutsie", if you know anything about animating, the process is grueling-the amount of detail in the drawings multiply the process by one million as well. talent and A LOT of patience is required...quite unlike making a disaster of a movie like Juno
I dunno, I don't find this video any more pointless or cliche than the one for "my girls" - and the music sounds about as throwaway to me too... ::asbestos suit on!::
I think the video is neat, but cutsie, indie teens DO ruin a lot of crap by imitation and association.
That said, I like the song, and the art is awesome. Sometimes a "pointless" video works better than a tries-too-hard-to-be-meaningful one.
love this song even more now that i've seen the video. really cool animation :) thanks for sharing!
