Let's start off this Thursday with a rare track that many audiophiles may have missed. Awhile ago, Xiu Xiu teamed up with Devendra Banhart for a 7" split that was sure to take the cake for most beautiful, off-kilter tag team to ever share vinyl together. The best result of the split was Xiu Xiu covering Banhart's "The Body Breaks"in a lo-fi, anti-acoustic manner that makes the tune shimmer as if it was one of Jamie Stewart's own. It really makes me wish their split contained more than two songs; which two artists would you like to see on a split?

The career of Her Space Holiday has been interesting to follow, to say the least. I remember when one of my friends in high school was falling head-over-heels for The Young Machines album which, in all essence, was his breakthrough into the realm of independent relevance. His blend of thoughtful lyrics and use of smooth synthesizers hit ears at the same time The Postal Service began exploding. Musical trends are an interesting thing to observe, yet Her Space Holiday has significantly changed his sound over the years. I am not a big fan of his new material but I really like what he's done with one of my favorite Wolf Parade jams ever.
