Animal Collective freaked the hell out of everyone on the Letterman set last night with a balls-out performance of "Summertime Clothes." It's crazy to think they've reached a point as a band where Letterman is cracking jokes about them. Zingers like "Look for it in the wallpaper department of your favorite store." There's way too much to say about this video so I leave the reactions up to you guys.

I love this song. so many good (mostly drug related) memories associated with it.

letterman is genius. so is ac, most of the time.

i find it incredibly interesting that animal collective is one of the very few bands that can perform at a "mainstream" type venue and still remain completely authentic/experience little to no backlash at all. that's a pretty devoted fan base.

ugh get over yourself PLEASE. zingers LIKE that? that was the only fucking thing he SAID. how are they big because a comedian made a joke about their goofy album cover? fucking lord almighty. i dunno how you crammed so much dick suckery into an intro for a performance. how could you do it? you did it. in traditional form. ugh ugh ugh.
i like the band. i disliked what you said.
i don't think the dancers really knew the music, or what they were doing. one of the two, or both. i love animal collective, but the background dancers made it seem like they were trying to hard to be artsy. irritating. oh well, still love the music, just lose the freaks in costume.
